A trailer for the show revealed that “Beast Games” is “the most insane competition show you’ve ever seen” with 1,000 contestants competing for a $5 million grand prize on a giant pirate ship with monster trucks, Navy SEALs and daring stunts.

According to reports, the “city” was built in Toronto. MrBeast’s representative said that items used during the games, such as mattresses, sleeping bags and clothing, were donated to local organizations.

Participants complain of abuse

However, the reporting of the show was not without controversy. In a report, The New York Times said some participants revealed they were not given enough food and had to wait hours or even days for their medicine or hygiene supplies.

They also claimed that some of them were injured during challenges and required medical attention. Five of the participants plan to file a class action lawsuit against the YouTuber.

MrBeast has declined to comment on the allegations citing court proceedings, but has labeled some of the claims as “disinformation.” (Read also: Mr Beast, JJ takes a heavily guarded drive in India; fans crowd for selfies)
